The club was refounded in 1980 and has recently moved from its long standing base at the Syston church hall to the Syston social club. We have an English Chess Federation Accredited Coach, he is also the holder of an enhanced CRB clearance. His coaching services are available free to all members. The club participates in the local Leicestershire Chess League, with a fair degree of success and is the only Leicestershire Club to have won two national tournaments, in which we continue to participate. The club is well stocked with equipment, and has access to the best chess library in the county. The club’s excellent reputation is nationwide, hosting several National Club finals and many National County Championship quarter final and semi-final matches. Due to increased numbers in the clubs membership in 2007 the club will be starting up a 4th team in the Leicestershire league in the 07/08 season to ensure that all members get a good go at match play. If you want to enjoy the oldest board game in the world, and enjoy an excellent venue with good company of all ages, please pay us a visit on a Tuesday evening or send us an e-mail.
